A Stronger and More Resilient Canada: Speech from the Throne 2020

Yesterday, during the Speech from the Throne, our government unveiled our ambitious new plan to keep Canadians safe during this pandemic and to move Canada forward, a plan that includes providing economic support for individuals and businesses as we rebuild our economy better and build a more just society for all.

I’m also extremely proud that we’re going to continue to work alongside our provinces and territories to fight chronic homelessness, create a national child-care program, build the foundations for a universal pharma care system and establish new national standards for long-term care.

If there’s anything that we’ve learned in 2020, it’s that Canadians are always stronger together and that’s why we absolutely need everyone to play their part—just as they did only six short months ago—to help stave off the progress of this second wave of COVID-19. This will mean following the best advice of our public health professionals and practicing social distancing and wearing masks in public whenever social distancing is not possible.

Together, we have the power to get this second wave under control and you can always count on your federal government to support you every step of the way.
