The Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal Program Recipients

Today, the Honourable Ginette Petitpas Taylor, Minister of Official Languages, Minister responsible for ACOA and Member of Parliament for Moncton-Riverview-Dieppe and the Honourable Senator Nancy J. Hartling (New Brunswick) unveiled the recipients of the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal Program in a public ceremony held at the Maison Doiron in Dieppe.

The Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal is a tangible way to honour New Brunswickers who, like Her Majesty, have been exemplary in their service to others.

Minister Petitpas Taylor and Senator Hartling were identified by the Province of New Brunswick as trusted program partners for The Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal and as such, each were allocated five nomination opportunities.

Nominations were submitted by individuals across the province and reviewed and selected by the independent review committee comprising of the following representatives appointed by the municipalities of Moncton, Riverview and Dieppe:

Moncton-former city clerk, Barbara Quigley

Riverview-former mayor, Ann Seamans

Dieppe-former city councillor, Ted Gaudet

Here is the list of honoured recipients, ten exceptional New Brunswickers who were nominated by their peers and endorsed by the selection committee, followed by biographical notes:

 

DEBORAH BROWN-WARREN

Nominated by Ms. Wendy Keats and Ms. Sara Doiron.

In recognition of her long-term, respectful, passionate and unwavering commitment and leadership in contributing to a more inclusive community through education and support of our most marginalized and vulnerable citizens.

 

DARLENE DOIRON

Nominated by Dr. Pasqualino Marcantonio.

In recognition of her unwavering promotion of peaceful resolution and longstanding service in benefit of local communities.

 

PAUL DUPUIS

Nominated by Mr. Roger Smith

In recognition of his exceptional and devoted commitment to the service of assisting and supporting fellow veterans in his province.

 

LAWRENCE FORBES 

Nominated by Mrs. Ann Mazerolle.

In recognition of his enthusiastic commitment and service to community through his many years of effective leadership and devoted volunteerism.

 

YVON J. GOGUEN

Nominated by Ms. Louise Imbeault

In recognition of his long-standing service in municipal politics and his unwavering and transformative dedication to preserving and growing the vitality of the French language and the rights of Francophones.

 

NADINE LARCHE 

Nominated by Mr. Armand Doucet

In recognition of her long-term, unwavering and enthusiastic volunteer efforts in her community.

 

TARA LEVI 

Nominated by Ms. Darlene Doiron.

In recognition of her outstanding achievements, contributions and service to Indigenous peoples with an emphasis on advancing peace, truth and reconciliation.

 

DONALD MACFARLANE  

Nominated by Mrs. Elizabeth MacFarlane

For his unwavering bravery in service of his community as a volunteer firefighter, and in recognition of the countless lives he saved as a result.

 

STANLEY MACNEIL 

Nominated by Mr. Roger Smith

For devotion to his community providing many volunteer hours of support and guidance to those in need, in the hopes of improving their qualify of life and, in some instances, in saving lives.

 

FLORENCE MAZEROLLE 

Nominated by Ms. Angela Peter-Paul

In recognition of her exceptional contributions in the realm of reconciliation, diversity, equality and inclusion, and local volunteerism.
